KATHMANDU: Few days after the authorities started legal action against the UCPN-Maoist cadre involved in murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari during the period of Armed insurgency, Youth wing of UCPN-Maoist Young Communist League (YCL) has decided to prepare a list of extra-judicial killings carried out by the state security forces during conflict.
Organizing a press conference in the Capital on Monday, the YCL stated that they had to take such steps as the state has started arresting its cadres in connection with conflict-era cases against the peace accord. YCL Chair Ganesh Man Pun informed that a list of war-era killings at the hands of state including the murder of journalist Krishna Sen and Doramba incident will be made public within the next week.
Saying that all such conflict-era cases should be scrapped, Pun urged the government to form the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) at the earliest to deal with such cases. The parties have agreed to form Truth and Reconciliation Commission to look after the war related incidents but formation of such commission has never been materialized.
Meanwhile, the YCL informed that it will launch a campaign across the nation focusing the upcoming election to the Constituent Assembly (CA).
Pun further said that his organization would make a special contribution to the CA election as it was necessary and indispensible for the country. Pun added that they would urge and request people for participation in the election.
He said the YCL will mobilize its central leader to each of the constituencies. The YCL chief also informed that a special campaign will be launched against smuggling, hooliganism and bribery and rehabilitation programs will be brought to reform youths stuck in drug addiction.
Meanwhile, secretary and spokesperson of Nepal Gaurabshali Party Bal Krishna Lamsal started to stage a fast-unto-death at Shanti Batika, Ratnapark on Monday demanding that the 601 members of the dissolved Constituent Assembly return their remuneration.
The party has also threatened to boycott filing candidacy in the upcoming Constituent Assembly elections if the former CA members do not return the remuneration they enjoyed in the erstwhile CA.
“Our party expresses concern over the preparations being made to give candidacy to the same CA members who failed to draft a constitution in the previous CA”, says a statement issued by the Party here on Monday.
