By N24 Correspondent, NEW DELHI:- The Chinese Communist Party’s President as well as President of China, Xi Jinping, is in favor of inducing “political education” in Tibetan schools, so that he could ensure “loyalty” of the next generation Tibetans, according to the World Report of Human Right Watch, 2021.
Xi Jinping’s view has come at a time when the Chinese authorities in Tibet continue to impose inhuman violations of freedom on Tibetans.
“With Chinese President Xi personally calling for an increased political education in schools in Tibet to ensure the loyalty of the next generation, it signals a central support for these policies at the 7th Forum on Tibet Work in August 2020,” said the World Report 2021.
As per its grand design, China is promoting a “nationality unity model areas” since May 2020 representing a so-called new milestone for the coercive merger policies of the current leadership.
These policies encourage economic migration from other parts of China and phasing out of Tibetan-medium instruction in primary schools. Intensified surveillance and intimidation in neighborhoods, workplaces, and homes has prevented public protest, a goal emphasized repeatedly by the officials.
“The Chinese authorities in Tibet continue to impose inhuman violations of freedom on Tibetans. Restriction on religious freedom, speech, movement, and assembly, and failure to redress environmental degradation concerns about mining and land grabs by local Chinese officials, which often involve intimidation and unlawful use of force by security forces on Tibetan civilians,” the Report further said.
“Authorities’ 13th Five-Year Plan for Tibet (2015-2020), which set ambitious state goals for rural transformation, includes the relocation of several hundred thousand more people. Official claims of ‘poverty alleviation’ prompted fears of further marginalization and dispossession of Tibet’s rural majority,” added the Report, indicating that China is taking steps to devoid the next generations of Tibetans of their identity and cultural roots by brainwashing them to induce Chinese patriotic views.
