Writ filed at SC against DIG promotion

KATHMANDU: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court against the promotion of nine Deputy Inspector General (DIG)s to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG).

DIG Yadav Adhikari on Friday filed a writ against the DIG promotion demanding implementation of the recommendation made by the Review Committee on the promotion decision made earlier by the Promotion Committee. DIG Adhikari had earlier moved the apex court demanding a review on the promotion decision made on May 27.

The court had issued an interim order not to implement the decision. Adhikari said that the promotion implemented through a Cabinet meeting yesterday was against the law.

According to him, the review committee had listed his name in eighth position of the nine DIGs to be promoted.

Prime Minister’s office, Home Ministry and Police Head Office have been made defendants in the writ petition.
