Will The Political Deadlock Break This evening?

Kathmandu, March 14: At the official residence of the Prime Minister the ruling and opposition parties have scheduled the formal fresh negotiations today late afternoon to seek consensus on the disputed issues with a view to wrapping up the prolonged constitution writing process. The parties has decided to have decisive talk .

The dialogue between the ruling and opposition parties, which has been stalled after the formation of Questionnaire Committee on January 25, has gained fresh momentum as of late. The proceedings at Constituent Assembly (CA) have been stopped for an indefinite period to seek consensus.

Today’s meeting is assumed to be concentrate on the model, territory and the number of federal state that is going to be purposed in new constitution and form of the government . It is known that UCPN(Maoist) is quite softening towards the official position to federate the country into 10 provinces, they have settled for eight provinces if they accept multiple-identity-based federalism as agreed earlier.

Likewise United Democratic Madhesi Front have agreed to have two state in Madhesh getting back from their predefined “Yek Madhesh” however they are very much strict that the five district issue should be solved by including them in those two Madhesh state.

As different parties have warm up talk with other it can be forecast that today’s meeting will be disciplined one and will be the gateway to the serious and decisive meeting to seek so called consensus
