CHITWAN: Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the government has made a resolution to expedite development activities on consensus. Chairman Dahal said this during an interaction the State-3 government organized with the private sectors here Friday.
“We wrote and promulgated constitution on consensus; held elections on consensus, and have made resolution to expedite development on consensus,” he reminded, adding that consensus and cooperation were essential for country’s prosperity.
Moreover, the Chairman argued the prosperity is the common goal of all parties including the ruling and opposition ones. Special attention is needed to implement the activities to pave way to prosperity, he added.
According to him, unless honest efforts are made to cooperate with private sectors, development can not gain pace. “State needs to take private sectors in confidence. If the private sector is not taken in confidence, it would be chimera to think of investment by foreigners and domestic sectors,” he reminded.
The former Prime Minister Dahal further said the change realized with formation of three layers of governments ensured a new age. It is not like the change brought forth by the revolutions of 2007, 2017 and 2046BS, but of higher quality. In addition to the political change, change in thoughts is also imperative, he asserted.
On the occasion, former Finance Minister and Nepali Congress leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat viewed, “We are not short of any plan and policy, but the implementation deficit.”
Smart plans may be formulated but how effectively they would be implemented is the major issue. Dr Mahat suggested that governments in all layers enhanced the decision making capacity and environment for investment with delivery of quality service.
“Time has come to translate words into action rather than making tall talk,” he underscored.
Various other speakers including lawmaker Binod Chaudhary, Chairman of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, Chairman of Non-Resident Nepalis’ Association, Bhawan Bhatta, Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Professor Dr Pushparaj Kandel, put forth their views at the programme.
