Vote count for vice-president begins: Khadka, Gurung leading


KATHMANDU:- Counting of votes of the election held for the post of Nepali Congress vice-president under the 14th general convention on Monday is underway. The vote counting is taking place at the central party office from 6:15 pm this evening.
While counting 1300 votes, Purna Bahadur Khadka has received 1484 votes while Dhanaraj Gurung 1461, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar 1359, Dr Chandra Bhandari 1233, Sujata Koirala 462, Mahesh Acharya 327 and Divyashowri Shah 122, according to NC’s Central Election Committee member, Sitaram KC.
Vote counting is underway at three places. Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Mahesh Acharya, Sujata Koirala, Dr Chandra Bhandari, Dhanraj Gurung and Divyeshwori Shah have contested for the post of two vice-presidents. A total of 4,679 votes out of 4,743 votes, were cast in the election. The election was held for 132 posts including office-bearers and members.
Vote count for the party president post has been completed with Sher Bahadur Deuba getting reelected to the post. Counting of votes for other office-bearers and central committee would start after the result of vice-president, according to the NC’s Central Election Commission.
