KATHMANDU:- Vijaya Development Resource Centre (VDRC-Nepal – a civil society organization (CSO) held its 36th annual general meeting in Gaindakot municipality.
Presenting the annual progress the organization achieved in the fiscal year 2077/78 BS, Secretary Bhumiraj Chapagain informed that VDRC-Nepal has accomplished different initiatives related to good governance, advocacy, campaign and lobby, children, youth and women empowerment, improved livelihood and resource/knowledge management.
VDRC’s Executive Director Keshab Prasad Sapkota said the organization in the fiscal year 2077/78 BS has achieved 66 percent of the total programs planned earlier.
Sapkota shared, “Despite unprecedented multiple crises exacerbated by COVID-19 pandemic VDRC has expanded its working areas and collaboration with different new development partners, including Open Society Foundation, European Union and USAID. The organization executed its internal and external programs to help people avert the crises brought out by the coronavirus”.
Treasurer Parbati Kandel presented the financial report of the fiscal year 2077/78 BS and estimated annual budget for the fiscal year 2078/79 BS. She shared that VDRC has spent actual budget of around Rs 49.6 million in the fiscal year 2077/78 BS and has planned an estimated budget of Rs 62.7 million for the upcoming fiscal year.
On the occasion, VDRC has honoured different individuals and institutions at home and abroad recognizing their financial contributions to the organization to put in place campaign against COVID-19. Among the felicitated are Arati Parajuli (United States), Madhu Sudan Pandey (Canada), Tilak Gaire (Portugal), Mukunda Chalise (South Korea), Arjun Subedi, Vijaya Laghubitta Bitiya Sanstha, Vijaya Foundation, VYCCU Savings and Credit and Vijaya Shree Cooperatives.
Vijaya Group of Institutes (VGI) comprising eight organizations promoted by VDRC had also presented their annual progress on the occasion, VDRC Chairperson Laxmi Gautam shared, adding the VGI comprises VDRC, VYCCU savings and credit, Vijaya Community Education Cooperative, Vijaya Information and Communications Cooperative, Vijaya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, Vijaya Foundation and Vijaya Shree Consumers’ Cooperatives.
The member-based organization has been working with a vision to build a equitable and just society has dedicated its 42 years for the community development. The organization is electing a new leadership for the next term.
