N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bhim Rawal has announced his candidature for the post of chairperson at the party’s upcoming 10th general convention.
At the same time, the attempt to make UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli unopposed seems to have failed. Lately, not only close to Oli, some leaders in the UML who had agreed on 10 points had said that there was no alternative to Samate Oli.
However, after reaching a 10-point agreement, UML Vice-Chairman Rawal announced his candidacy for the post of chairperson at the 10th general convention at a press conference on Sunday.
Rawal has urged Oli not to run for president again. Stating that he has done what he can to be the party president and prime minister of the country, he said that he himself had earlier announced that he would hand over the leadership and would not run for the post again.
He also urged Oli to have confidence in himself if he felt that it would be difficult for him to face the situation from others when the party was divided. He further said, “If I get the responsibility of the post of chairman, I am ready to use his experience, knowledge, and skills for the development and expansion of the party.”
He has urged Chairman Oli and other leaders to take his candidature for the post easily and show goodwill towards him.
