USAF aircraft landed at TIA for three hours; Social media filled with rumors

KATHMANDU: An aircraft of US Air Force (USAF) landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday afternoon. The plane landed at around 2.25 p.m. left the airport after three hours.

USAF is the aircraft to be used for air-war, which could be used to assist army in the plain land through air. According to sources, the plane arrived carrying normal supply of the US Embassy. According to source, the US Army informed the government officials in Kathmandu about the arrival of aircraft.

It has also been learnt that the US Air Force (USAF) aircraft arrived in Kathmandu via New Delhi where it could have also dropped off necessary supplies for US mission in New Delhi. The airport source also confirmed that the air-craft was here to drop off the supplies for the embassy. “The air-craft brought supplies for several embassies based in Asian countries”, the TIA source said. There were 9 people including the crew members onboard the aircraft.

There were rumors about the arrival of airplane of USAF. Various social media have been filled with different speculations about the airplane. People have expressed different speculation about the airplane as some thought it is for supporting the Nepali Army and some even connected it with the government’s recent decision to mobilize Army for the security of the election. Some expressed happiness that the plane has been able to land in the Airport, which has noticed some cracks in the runway of the airport. “Today’s development proved that our airport is capable of hosting any airplane despite weak runway,” says a facebook post.
