By Sushma Tamang, KATHMANDU:- More than 100,000 doses of Pfizer corona vaccine provided by the United States have arrived in Nepal.

The Pfizer vaccine provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) under the Covax facility arrived in Kathmandu this morning on a Qatar Airways flight.

This is the first time that the Pfizer vaccine has come to Nepal. Earlier, AstraZeneca, Vero cell, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have been used in Nepal.

The Ministry of Health has stated that the Pfizer vaccine, which requires two doses in a month, will be given to long-term patients above 12 years of age. Research has confirmed that the Pfizer vaccine is 95 percent effective.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Krishna Prasad Poudel said that the long-term patients will be vaccinated as the Pfizer vaccine is in short supply now. The United States is preparing to bring an additional 6 million doses of Pfizer vaccine next December. The government is preparing to vaccinate children after the vaccination.

According to the vaccination branch under the Ministry of Health, the Pfizer vaccine will be stored at a temperature of minus 70 degrees Celsius.
