UNSG Ban urges Nepal’s parties to form consensus govt

NEWYORK:    United Nation’s Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has expressed his concern over the Nepal’s continuing political impasse. Releasing a statement from UN’s headquarter in Newyork on Friday, Ban has urged the political parties of Nepal to form a national consensus government.

He has urged the stakeholders of Nepal to create a conducive environment for the fresh election. “He (Ban Ki-Moon) urges the country’s political parties to set aside differences in the interest of the nation and form a broad-based government without further delay,” a statement of the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General reads.

Likewise, he has also urged all the actors of Nepal to reaffirm their commitment to the Comprehensive Peace Agreements and to safeguard the achievements of the past several years in line with the aspirations of the Nepali people.

The UNSG’s statement has come amid a political deadlock in Nepal and political parties at odds over the formation of national consensus government following the President’s fourth deadline for recommending the Prime Minister of national consensus.
