KATHMANDU: The ongoing unity general convention of pro royalist parties Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) has approved the political document presented by RJP Co-Chairman Prakash Chandra Lohani.
The closed session of the general convention that approved Lohani’s political report has incorporated various matters including party’s commitments to republic, pluralism, complete press freedom, periodic election, human rights, nationalism, pro-people liberalism and inclusion.
The closed-door session also decided to activate the party in view of upcoming Constituent Assembly election. According to media reports over 200 general convention representatives have put their views at the closed session. Their views focused on present political situation of the country, party’s organizational strengthening and future strategy.
The closed session also approved separate proposals on different matters presented by Arjun Rai, Pratibha Rana, Thakur Singh Tharu and Shreedhar Pariyar. Deliberations on the party statue amendment proposal presented by Parshuram Khapung are underway.
The convention, which was scheduled to conclude today, is expected to extend for some time as many representatives wished to put forth their views at the closed session. The pro-royalists party said that they would not advocate for any form of monarchy in the upcoming elections of the constituent assembly as they said that they have already accepted the republican set-up of the country.
