
KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has accused the main opposition CPN (UML) of trying to make the State Partnership Program of the United States of America as its election agenda.
Speaking at a press meet organised by the Nepal Press Union in Birgunj of Parsa today, the Spokesperson of the major ruling party said, “The SPP was not a big matter and it was already known to us that the letter to this regard was exchanged during the premiership of UML chair KP Sharma Oli. The party which has no specific agenda for the upcoming election tried to use it as a weapon against the government.”
He accused the party of provoking propaganda against the government targeting the upcoming province and federal elections. Leader Mahat who is also the former Minister for Foreign Affairs stressed that the implementation stable and balanced foreign policy should be the priority of Nepal.
On a different note, he said chances were slim for reviving the Birgunj Sugar Mill and Agricultural Tools Factory.
As he opined, the government should increase the size of its investment in health, education and infrastructure sectors and have a policy of increasing competency and efficiency of private sector too.
The NC spokesperson explained, nation’s economic development was not possible without the active participation and contribution of private sector and the government was expected not to intervene in industrial and trade sector.
He took time to say that the five-party electoral alliance in the recent local elections remained successful and the alliance would continue in the upcoming House of Representatives and Province Assembly elections as well.
