KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has expressed reservations over the nomination of party candidates for the vacant seats in the Constituent Assembly (CA).
Leader Bhattarai expressed his disapproval of the nomination saying that the party did not follow due procedure while making the nomination for CA seats. Bhattarai drew party Chairman KP Sharmal Oli’s attention through a letter accusing that the party breached its own mandate during the nomination procedure.
Nine months after the Constituent Assembly elections and six months after Cabinet formation, the government had yesterday announced the nomination of 17 lawmakers in 26 vacant CA seats.
In his letter, Bhattarai has stated that the party office bearer meeting convened on August 27 had decided that another meeting of the officer bearer would finalise the names prepared by party chairman.
“Later the names were finalised without even summoning the officer bearer’s meeting. I feel ashamed to learn about the nomination through media,” said Bhattarai in his letter.
He further warned that the incident might drag the party towards further crisis.
