
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML on Saturday formed a central relief fund to provide support for victims of recent landslides, floods and inundations in various parts of the country.
The central committee meeting of the party that concluded today decided that each CC member will contribute Rs 7,000 in the fund.
The Central Secretariat is authorised to manage and mobilise the fund.
The party has also directed central to local-level leaders and cadres to get involved in rescue and relief activities in their respective areas.
Endorsing a ‘special proposal’ about the recent disasters, the meeting demanded that the government manage all needful help for the victims at the earliest.
Stating that physical structures like dams intensified disaster woes in bordering areas, the party also urged the government to talk with neighbouring countries at diplomatic level to solve the issues.
