Speaking at a routine press meet on Saturday, Sapkota said that the HLPC will hold decisive and concrete talks with the party which has been opposing Constituent Assembly election under current dispensation. “HLPC is preparing for talks with CPN-Maoist . November 19 election cannot be deferred,” he said. He added that the government will loose its rightness if election was not conducted in November. “There are rumors that the polls will be deferred by around four months from November to March-April, 2014. That’s not true,” he added.
“We can expand the incumbent government and the High Level Political Committee to accommodate CPN-Maoist. But we can’t go beyond that,” he said, explaining about his party’s position on the talks. In another context, the UCPN-Maoist leader claimed that the meeting of extended plenum on July 19 will resolve all intra-party rift concerning appointments in the plum positions in the party.
“Hetauda convention finalized the political work plan of the party, the extended plenum meeting will settle the organizational work plan of the party,” Sapkota claimed. Sapkota also maintained that the party was dwelling on various alternatives to accommodate Baburam Bhattarai, who resigned from the Vice Chairman post, in the party.
