UCPN-Maoist hopes to garner two thirds majority; CPN Maoist secretary warns to disrupt it


CHITWAN: Chairman of the At a time when 42 political parties have been warning to disrupt the electoral process if the government did not fulfill their demands, Chairperson of UCPN-Maoist, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has claimed that his party would garner two thirds majority in the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election.

Inaugurating the Fourth National Convention of the All Nepal Teachers Association in Chitwan, on Saturday, he said though various conspiracies were plotted not to hold CA election scheduled to be on November 19, no force would be able to disrupt the election.

Similarly, Vice-Chairman of the party Dr Baburam Bhattarai, claimed that the first CA had failed to promulgate constitution due to the plotting by the status quo forces.

Another Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that his party was committed to addressing the problems faced by the teachers and the education sector.

More than one thousand representatives and observers are participating in the convention, according to Tulasi Prasad Ghimire, Coordinator of the Convention.

Meanwhile speaking at an interaction in the Capital on Saturday, CPN-Maoist Secretary Dev Gurung has challenged the government to hold the Constituent Assembly (CA) election on the scheduled date by ignoring the agitating parties.

Gurung also warned that the country will be pushed back to the conflict if the government tried to hold the CA election unilaterally. He charged that the interim government is trying to hold the election at foreign power centers’ will.
