KATHMANDU: The UCPN-Maoist has said that the dissident parties that are opposing the Constituent Assembly elections announced for November 19 should be incorporated into the High Level Political Committee (HLPC) and even in the cabinet to ensure timely election.
Speaking at a weekly press briefing at UCPN-Maoist party headquarter on Saturday, UCPN-Maoist spokesperson Agni Sapkota informed that the Constituent Assembly (CA) seats under the Proportional Representation system can be increased as demanded by the disgruntled parties if they are ready to take part in the forthcoming CA elections.
“We believe that the HLPC has to be reshuffled and the top leaders of the disgruntled parties like Mohan Baidya, Upendra Yadav and Ashok Rai and others can be included there,” he added.
After the incorporation of the dissident parties in the HLPC, Sapkota said, the Cabinet should be expanded further.
He expressed his hope that the parties will take part in the November 19 election if their genuine demands are addressed.
On a different note, leader Sapkota said the next meeting of the party’s Central Committee, scheduled for June 27, will come up with the party’s manifesto and other strategies for the election. He also made it clear that they are ready to fulfill all the demands of agitating parties except the resignation of Chairperson of Interim Election Government.
