UCPN-Maoist finalizes agendas for CC meeting; Indian Ambassador meets Dahal while party meeting ongoing

KATHMANDU: The UCPN-Maoist has endorsed the agenda for the party’s Central Committee (CC) meeting slated for Sunday.

Maoist spokesperson Agni Sapkota informed that a meeting of the Maoist office bearers and chiefs of party’s organizational departments gave final touch to the agendas for the CC meeting today.

Today’s meeting also decided to include new appointments in the party’s office in the agenda for the CC meeting. It is said that the party will give portfolio to the leaders, who joined the party deserting CPN-UML. The meeting will have heated debate about the portfolio as some leaders are not happy with providing higher posts to the leaders newly joining the party.

The Maoist party has called the CC meeting after two-and-half months. The CC is expected to dwell on the Constituent Assembly elections also.

Meanwhile, speaking at a regular weekly press meet at the party headquarters, Paris Danda, this afternoon, Sapkota informed that two dossiers — a political paper and a proposal on production, construction and management — will be presented in the CC meeting tomorrow.

Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal will present his political paper, whereas the party’s economic and production bureau will present the second paper. According to Sapkota, the CC will give full shape to the party’s central office, standing committee and politburo as per the party statute.

Meanwhile Indian ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad turned up at UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence, Lazimpat, Saturday when the Maoist leaders were in a meeting to finalize the agendas for the party’s central committee meeting starting Saturday.

Prasad is known to have the held one-on-one with Dahal for about 15 minutes. The ‘urgency’ with which the Indian ambassador met the Maoist chairman in the middle of the meeting was not immediately figured out.

New Delhi had hosted Dahal recently at the top level and has invited a number of leaders across the Nepali political spectrum over the next few weeks to take “first-hand account” of the political scenario here. It is said that the Maoist has been dancing at the tunes of foreigners particularly with India.
