UCPN-Maoist decided to form alliance for election


KATHMANDU: After the High Level Political Committee (HLPC), the cross-party taskforce of the major political parties, has decided to go for the poll even without participation from 33-party alliance, the UCPN-Maoist has decided to contest the upcoming Constituent Assembly election by forming an alliance with pro-federalism forces.

The party’s central office held a meeting at the Lazimpat-based residence of party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to make the decision on Wednesday morning. The move was aimed at recovering the loss the party has been facing after the split of Mohan Baidya faction of the party deserted the party and formed separate party.

The meeting concluded that the election will be a battle between the pro-federalism and the anti-federalism forces. According to Dahal’s personal secretariat, the meeting also reviewed the party’s ongoing preparations for the November 19 elections.

Moreover, the meeting decided to expedite the ongoing poll preparations giving continuation to the talks with dissenters including CPN-Maoist, Dahal’s secretariat informed.
