Two missing in boat capsize found dead


RAUTAHAT: Two of the three women who had gone missing in a boat capsize in the BagmatiRiver were found dead at Pipara Rajwada VDC in Rautahat on Friday.

The bodies of Sukani Devi Pandit, 45, and Jitani Devi Das, 65, of Pipara Rajwada were recovered 2 km away from the incident site, said District Police Office Rautahat.

“Locals along with Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force searched and recovered the bodies,” said SP Umesh Ranjitkar. However, the whereabouts of another missing 60-year-old Mahadev Mahato is not known yet. Search is on, said SP Ranjitkar.

The boat was heading for Rajwada from Bairiya of Sarlahi with 50 passengers when it met with the accident on Thursday. As many as 48 people were rescued with the joint efforts of Nepal Police, the Nepali Army and locals.
