Two government officials in CIAA net for taking bribe

KATHMANDU:- The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Surkhet has made public two government officials arrested red-handed while taking a bribe of over Rs 200,000.
Chief engineer at the Drinking Water Irrigation and Power Development Office, Topendra Sundar Malla and sub-engineer Birendra Chand have been accused of taking Rs 241,016 in bribe for facilitating a forged bill showing the fake completion of an embankment at Santada river at Bhagawatimai rural municipality-3 in Dailekh district, said CIAA’s spokesperson Pradip Kumar Koirala.
A CIAA team, Surkhet arrested the two from their office and the money taken in bribe has been confiscated from the residence of Malla. The CIAA has also held sub-engineer Ranjit Shrestha and supervisor Laxmi Pandey for investigations into the case, said Koirala.
