Three including police inspector killed in Southeast Nepal
DHANUSA: A father and son were killed in a bomb explosion that took place in Mahendranagar market on Friday. A police inspector was also killed in the incident.
Rajesh Shah and his 24-year-old son Ananda died on the spot when the IED planted in front of their home exploded. Police Inspector Amir Kumar Dahal, injured in the same incident, died during treatment, according to District Police Office, Dhanusa.
The incident took place at ward no. 5 of Kchireswarnath municipality. Rajesh’s 73-year-old father Bhikhari, son Prakash and daughter Nikki were also injured in the incident. They are undergoing treatment at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.
The bomb explosion took place at 12:00 midnight on Friday. The IED was hanged in the iron gate of the house. Upon seeing it, the Shah family informed police and the IED exploded as the police team was trying to confirm whether the bag was a bomb.
The person and reason behind the planting of the IED is not yet known. Investigation is underway, DSP Rameswar Karki said.
