SIMARA:  Police defused two bombs this morning that were planted at the premises of Amrit Gas House and Durga Rice Mill each in Birgunj-Pathaliya Industrial Corridor.

Traders said that extortionists might have planted the bombs after the businesspersons refused to pay a huge amount of donation to the armed outfits operating violent activities in Tarai.

The cases of threats to the businesspersons in the corridor are increasing lately. Two days ago, a bomb was defused by the police that was planted in a factory in Jitpur area.

Police Inspector Krishna Prasad Sharma of the Area Police Office, Simara, said manhunts are underway to nab the criminals.

Similarly, a bomb defuse team of the Nepal Army defused a bomb planted near the NCC Bank at Attariya bazaar in Kailali district this morning.

It is said that a gang of looters had attempted to rob the Bank after planting the bomb but police foiled their attempts after the bank’s security guards informed the police, said Assistant Police Inspector Ganesh Bista. RSS
