Third Asia Pacific Conference of NRNs concludes in Manila


Man Bahadur Thapa / Philippines: The third Asia Pacific Conference of the Non Residential Nepali (NRN) concluded in Manila, the capital of Philippines, on May 18 with the slogan United Nepali for prosperous Nepal.

Over 125 representatives from 18 countries took part in the conference. Chief Patron of NRN Dev man Hirachan was the chief guest of the program, which started by playing national anthem of both the countries.

Addressing the opening ceremony chairperson of NRNA Jiba Lamichhane, former labor Minister of Philippines Marianto D. Roque, founder chairperson of NRNA Dr. Upendra Mahato, Chancellor of Philippines to Nepal Dr. Jose P. Campos shared the importance of organization like NRNA and how it could support for the development of the country.

Speaking at the program Chief Guest Hirachan informed that as many NRNs have confusion about the Nepal Investment Fund, the organization should provide clear information about it. He further added that apart from money there is a need of skill and knowledge for the prosperity of the country.

Coordinator of NRNA Asia Pacific Region Yam Kumar Gurung, who chaired the session, stressed the need of connecting the experience of development of South East Asia with Nepal, which could be important step for the economic development of the country. He also thanked all the delegates for taking part in the program.

In the second session former labor Minister of Philippines Marianto D. Roque, Chairperson of NCC Korea KP Sitoula, Regional Coordinator of Europe Region Kumar Panta, Advisor of NCC Japan Mahesh Shrestha shared about the issue of foreign employment. They also answered the queries of the participants.

Similarly during the third session Chancellor of Philippines Dr. Jose P Campos informed about Higher and Technical Education for Development while Vice chairperson of NRNA Hitman Gurung presented about Recognition of Nepali Identity and origin: Foundation for unifying Nepalis. Similarly vice chairperson of NRNA Rameshwor Sah and General Secretary Tenji Sherpa presented about NRNs Promoter of Neplais Tourism Word Wide and Treasurer of NRNA Bhuvan Bhatta presented about NRNA for developing Nepal. They also answered the queries of the participants. Following the conclusion of the session appreciation letters were being distributed to the persons and organizations, who have contributed for the successful completion of the conference.

NCCs of Asia Pacific Brunai, China, Macau, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Hong-Kong and Philippines presented about their activities.

The conference held extensive discussion about the NRN identity card, registration of the association, social works conducted by the organization, challenges faced by NRNs in Asia Pacific, 6th NRN global conference and participation of NRN in the Nepal’s election among others.

Coordinator of Asia Pacific Coordinator Yam Kumar Gurung Trilok read out the six point Manila declarations at the end of the conference. NCC Philippines organized a dinner after the conclusion of the program.
