There will be no constitution if UCPN-Maoist becomes largest party claims Khanal


NEW YORK: Chairperson of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal has said that it would not be possible to draft the new constitution of UCPN-Maoist becomes the largest party in the elections of the constituent assembly.

Leader Khanal, who is currently in United States to attend a General Convention of UML affiliated Democratic Nepali Forum, alleged that the first constituent assembly failed to promulgate new constitution due to Maoist and alleged that the second constituent assembly also could not promulgate the constitution if UCPN-Maoist becomes the largest party.

Similarly, senior leader of CPN-UML Bhim Rawal informed that there will be no meaning of Federalism if it was without nationality. He also made it clear that although CPN-UML is in favor of federal model to empower people, it is against the federalism based on ethnicity.

He also made it clear that it would be not acceptable to CPN-UML to provide federal states to couple of ethnic groups. The General Assembly of the Forum will elect new leadership for next three years.
