Thapa stresses on IT development for national development


KATHMANDU: Central member of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Thapa, has said that rapid development of the country would be possible only with the adoption of and corresponding development of the Information Technology (IT).

He stressed the need of linking the education, health, economic and social sectors adopting the integrated IT.

Releasing the monthly magazine ‘Living with ICT’ published by Information Communication Technology (ICT) here today, he stressed the need of developing IT as a separate and advanced industry so as to transform the good governance into practice.

Former Minister for Science and Technology, Ganesh Saha, said the IT services should be used to eradicate poverty, adding that new Nepal would be prosperous only through adoption of e-governance.

Mukesh Regmi, ICT Chief Officer at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, said the government policy that could properly handle the IT sector was the need of the nation, adding that the billionaires of the world have become successful through IT.

Assistant Dean of the Tribhuvan University, Pulchowk Engineering Campus, Dr. Subarna Shakya said computer education should be taken down to the rural level to make IT extensive.

IT expert Muni Bahadur Shakya, Computer Association Nepal (CAN) Secretary Amrit Panta, editor of the Living with ICT magazine Rajan Lamsal among others said maximum use of IT could be the basis for a prosperous and new Nepal. RSS
