In 2020, the American courts granted approvals to asylum petitions of 322 Nepalis, while 627 asylum petitions of Nepalis were approved in 2019.
Little more than 5,000 cases of Nepalis were approved by the American courts of law, while little less than 5,000 cases were approved by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
The number of asylum cases being approved by the USCIS, however, is on a decreasing trend for the Nepalis. For instance, in 2020, only 50 cases of Nepalis were approved, while in 2019, this number went down to 36.

More than 5,000 cases of Nepalis are still pending at the US courts of law, while many cases are under the USCIS’s consideration for an approval or a disapproval.
