CHITWAN: With new 22 cases, the number of people infected with swine flu disease registered at the Bharaput Hospital has reached 49.
The Hospital said 22 persons including 12 male and 10 female were detected swine flu positive recently.
According to Narahari Sharma, Chitwan District Public Health Officer, the infected are from Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Gorkha, Tanahun, Rupandehi and Parsa districts.
The Hospital had sent sputum samples to Kathmandu-based National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) for tests.
Despite claims from the government that patients of swine flu are decreasing in number, hospitals are still treating many people infected with H1N1.The claim that there is no fear of the disease is baseless. Till date, around 200 patients have been diagnosed with the disease while three deaths have been linked to the H1N1 influenza.
Dr Baburam Marasini, director of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division at the Department of Health Services, said hospitals have not reported exactly on the cases that they are treating. “Since deaths associated with the disease are few, there is not much to worry about yet,”
