Kathmandu: State Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation, Laxman Mahato was summoned by the Commission of Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)  for inquiring about the involvement of his personal secretary in bribery case.

Mahato attended the summons of the CIAA, where he recorded his statement for around five hours to a special investigation team comprising of Acting Chief of  CIAA Bhagawati Kumar Kafle.

Mahato’s personal secretary Nagendra Yadav was caught red-handed while taking bribe from the residents of Mugu on February 29, promising them of allocating compensation for their land acquired by the Rara National Park.

Confirming the interrogations, Commission Spokesperson Ishwari Prasad Poudel urged journalists to take further information about the summons from State Minister himself.

Minister of State Yadav, however, refused to comment on the summons and questions asked to him by the investigation team.
