Solu locals forced to pay NRs 200 for per minute call

SOLUKHUMBU: How much do you pay for making a phone call for one minute? May be, five rupees to seven rupees at the most. But hold your breath, one minute of phone call at Mera Peak, a tourist area in the district, costs in the range of Rs 180 to Rs 200.

This is because the STM phone service in the area is out of order for long and the people have no option but to pay exorbitant tariff for making phone calls on the ‘Thorea’ phone.

The hotel and tourism entrepreneurs and locals are facing problem due to the disruption of the STM phone service for nearly 10 months now. RSS
