Singh doubts November poll; Claims parties not serious for poll


BAGLUNJ: Senior communist leader and General Secretary of the CPN- Masal Mohan Bikram Singh has expressed doubt over election being held in November.

Speaking at a press meet organized by the Progressive Journalists Association Baglung, Singh, who is vocal against UCPN-Maoist, said that parties are incapable and as some parties are against election, there is doubt of November Election.

Singh also claimed that all forces of the country should focus to hold election soon. “Parties are not honest and they are just hatching conspiracy for power,” he said and added the government should fix the date soon after making environment.

He said although he opposed this government as it is a non-partisan government, he would participate in the election to be held by it. The senior communist leader, who is also the teacher of most of the leaders of UCPN-Maoist, has remained vocal against the decade long Maoist insurgency that has claimed the lives of over 13,000 people. Singh also claimed that the ground is not suitable for waging the people’s war.

But going by the latest activities of parties, there is doubt on election, he said, adding, the government too is not that honest. Singh termed the Baidya-led Maoist thinking of not taking part in election and disrupting it is extremist thinking.

On Masal’s underground working style, Singh said his party has both underground and open working system as per long term and short-term policies.
