Shahi submits his claim for chief minister in Karnali


KARNALI:- Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party leader in Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has submitted his claim for the post of Chief Minister in the province.
A total of 21 Province Assembly Members including six NC lawmakers, 12 Maoist Centre lawmakers and three of CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmakers of Karnali Province Assembly have backed Shahi’s candidacy.
Shahi submitted his claim for the post by visiting the Office of the Province Chief at 4:00 pm on Tuesday.
Chief of Karnali Province Govinda Prasad Kalauni on Monday had given 24 hours to the members of province assembly to claim for the post of chief minister until 7:30 pm today as per the Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Secretary at the Office of the Province Chief, Thakur Prasad Sigdel, said that NC leader Shahi made the claim as per the announcement from Province Chief Kalauni.
Sigdel said that the Office of the Province Chief is preparing to administer oath to Shahi as the Chief Minister at 8:30 PM today itself.
