KATHMANDU:- Seven people have been killed in floods and landslides in Sindhupalchowk district on Tuesday evening. Chief District Officer Arun Kumar Pokhrel said police and people’s representatives had confirmed the deaths of seven people. According to him, no further human casualties have been reported.
Floods and landslides in Melamchi and Helambu on Tuesday evening have caused extensive damage. Three bridges have been washed away in Helambu and one in Melamchi. Roads have also collapsed, disrupting traffic.
Chief District Officer Pokharel said that preparations are being made to operate Nepal Army helicopters and other private helicopters as there is no walking condition.
He said that the flow of water in Melamchi has not decreased. He said that precaution has been taken as the flow could cause further damage if it enters the settlement.
