School negligence costs future of two students


CHITWAN: Two students were deprived of attending School Leaving Certificate (SLC) chance exam due to sheer negligence on the part of a school in west Chitwan.

Student duo – Ek Narayan Poudel having symbol number of 0349678 ‘d’ and Geeta Acharya with symbol number of 0349679 ‘e’ – were denied of appearing in the chance exam of Science subject owing to a blunder by Saheed Smriti Secondary School, Geetanagar while publishing wrong routine.

The students were deprived of taking exam when the school administration posted the routine scheduling science subject exam on August 6 instead of August 5.

Following sharp criticism from different quarters, a dialogue between school management committee and guardians held. School Principal Jyoti Pratap Khand admitted to his mistake in the case.

An understanding was made to provide facilities to the victim student equivalent to regular student in the school and assist in the education of the students as per their wish.

The students have to be appeared in the SLC examination of whole subjects though the victims demanded that opportunity be given to take exam as a regular student.

Tere is no provision in the Education Regulation to allow students to attend exam as a regular student.

District Education Officer Ramakanta Sharma said action will be taken against the school in line with the Education Regular. RSS
