SAARC women entrepreneurs honoured


KATHMANDU, Mar. 1:  The South Asian Women Entrepreneurs Council (SAWEC) honored various women entrepreneurs of SAARC countries on the occasion of the 102 Th International Women’s Day Friday.

Those honored are Namrata Baiju of Nepal, Sipra Khanna of India, Sharmila Rasheed of Bangladesh, Juneriya Wagde of the Maldives, Rahat Ali of Pakistan, Renuka Rajnayeka Amarashekhara of Sri Lanka, and Dechen Wang of Bhutan.  They were honored for their contribution in tourism promotion of the South Asian region.

At a programme organized by the Council on Friday, Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Ahmed Saleem while honoring them expressed the confidence that a congenial environment would be created for women’s empowerment from the unity of women entrepreneurs of the region.

Council Chairperson Pramila Acharya Rijal said interactions are being held mutually on how to resolve common problems faced by the women of the South Asian region.

The council contributed Rs.  25,000 to Ishwori Maya Chhinal of Dang. RSS
