N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- The five-party ruling coalition has decided to pass the MCC agreement on US assistance today, with an explanatory announcement.

A meeting of the ruling coalition held at the PM’s residence in Valuwatar this morning decided to ratify the MCC with an explanatory announcement, said senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel.

“The coalition has agreed to pass the MCC today, with explanatory remarks in parliament,” NC leader Poudel told N24.

Chairman of the CPN-Unified Socialist Madhav Nepal had asked for time saying that a decision was yet to be made in the party. However, he said that it was decided to pass it today saying that there was no time. Leader Poudel added, “MCC is passed today.”

The leader quickly walked out of the meeting of the Nepal ruling coalition. At present, the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Unified Socialists is underway.

An extended meeting of the CPN-Maoist Central Office held this morning before the meeting of the ruling coalition had decided to approve the MCC with an explanatory declaration.

The five-party ruling coalition has expressed confidence that the main opposition CPN-UML will also support the passage of the MCC.

“Once the ruling coalition has reached an agreement, the UML is confident that it will stand by the coalition. Because they are the ones who have taken MCC to the parliament and they are going to move their proposal forward, ‘said the leader Poudel to N24.

Poudel said that if the vote was not in favor of MCC, moral questions would arise on UML. “Political parties should have political ethics. The UML is now being tested to see if it has morality, ‘said Poudel.
