RUKUM:- Three different cases including Homicide attempted homicide and caste-based discrimination and untouchability charges have been filed against 34 people by The Rukum District Attorney’s Office, for their alleged involvement in killing six youths of Jajarkot on May 23.
The incident took place when 21-year old Nabaraj BK of Bheri municipality 4, along with 18 other friends, we’re heading towards Chaurjahari-8, Soti to elope his 17-year old Girlfriend from her house. Locals, including the family, thrashed and chased them away.
To save their life youths jumped into Thuli River. But, Nabaraj BK along with Ganesh Budha Magar, Sanju BK, Lokendra Sunar, Govinda Shahi of Bheri municipality,and Tikaram Nepali of Chaurjahari municipality-1 failed to save their life as locals have been suspected of beating the youths to death.
According to Krita Bahadur Bohara, the registrar at the court, cases were filed against 34 people—20 who was arrested based on the complaint filed by the family members of the victims; nine people have taken in the procedure of police investigation, and five accused who are still on loose. All three charges were filed against 33 people, together with Chaurjahari Municipality Ward No. 8 Chairman Dambar Bahadur Malla, meanwhile, Indra Bahadur Malla of Bheri Municipality in Jajarkot district was charged for encouraging the crime.
However, the parliament has formed a nine-member special parliamentary committee ‘Chaurjahari Municipality, Soti Incident Investigation Committee’ last week to probe the incident, mandated to submit a report within 30 days.
