KATHMANDU: With the approaching date for the election of the constituent assembly the parties have intensified preparations for the election. Rastriya Prajatantra Party -Nepal (RPP-Nepal) has topped the race and made public its election manifesto for the upcoming Constituency Assembly (CA) elections. The party has proposed the constitutional monarchy with executive prime minister elected through the people as its governing system.

The RPP-Nepal on Friday made public the party’s election manifesto and candidates for First-Past-The-Post system. In a bid to woo the voters, RPP-Nepal has also assured of bringing an end to the problem of load shedding within 5 years and of forming a High Level Property Investigation Commission for seizing illegal property.

“All religions will exist in Nepal in harmony. All religions will have religious freedom in a traditionally Hindu Nepal,” Thapa said, adding, “Load shedding will be totally eliminated within the next five years and the party will work towards massive economic development.”

The party has proposed a bicameral parliamentary system comprising 207-member legislature parliament and 60-member national assembly. Regarding the issue of state restructuring, the manifesto has stated that it would bring out a new model of local autonomous governance. The party has claimed building a capable and prosperous Nepal and economic revolution should be the aim for now.

RPP-N Chairman Kamal Thapa has been nominated as the party’s candidate for the post of prime minister. RPP-N will be contesting from all the 240 constituencies and the announcement of the remaining candidates will be done within the next two days. However, the constituency from which Chairman Thapa will contest the CA polls has not been made announced yet.

The list of 196 declared candidates includes most of the party’s top leaders, central committee members and district leaders. Among the top leaders, Padma Sundar Lawati has been announced RPP-N candidate from Panchthar -2. The constituency of another senior leader Keshar Bahadur Bista is yet to be finalized. Similarly, Chandra Bahadur Gurung has been declared candidate from Syangja-1, Udhav Poudel from Kathmandu-4 and singers Mira Rana and Sanjaya Shrestha from Kathmandu-3 and 6, respectively. Bharat Jangam, who joined the party today, is also contesting from Kathmandu-1.

Thapa further said that the party will finalize all remaining candidacy soon. The party is in the mood of winning the confidence of people as the party believes that it is the right chance to win the hearts of the people as the major political parties are being blamed for failure to promulgate the new constitution through the first constituent assembly.
