KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the Interim Election Government Khil Raj Regmi has urged all the political parties to support the government for holding the elections of the constituent assembly on time rather than making different comments and doubting on the government’s commitment.
Regmi’s comments come as leaders of major political parties have been accusing the government of being hesitant to declare poll date. Regmi, who seemed aggressive towards the political parties, have also called on political parties to come up with ‘creative’ ways to conduct free and fair elections.
“The government’s job is not just to declare poll date. We also need to ensure that the general public takes part in it, and the new CA is able to come up with a lasting constitution,” he added.
The four major political parties, who formed the Chief Justice led election government, have not been supporting the government
Meanwhile talking to journalists at Bharatpur airport of eastern Jhapa district, vice President of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Poudel claimed that the CA poll would be held within the third week of November.
Poudel further claimed that the elections would be held despite the protest of an alliance of 33-political parties including the CPN-Maoist. “Nepali people are for the election, as they want promulgating constitution through CA and that it could be the strong basis that election was possible,” he added.
