
KATHMANDU: At a time when the country is passing through very critical stage, visiting UN Under-Secretary General Gyan Chandra Acharya has called on Chairperson of the Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi on Monday and discussed matters relating to possible UN support in the forthcoming CA elections.
During the meeting, Mr Acharya also conveyed to Chairman Regmi the best wishes extended to him by the UN Secretary General, state run news agency Rastriya Samachar Samiti quoted spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Mahendra Kumar Thapa as saying.
Also today, US Ambassador to Nepal Peter W Bode called on Chairperson Regmi and discussed matters relating to bilateral cooperation and the ongoing preparations for the CA elections.
Likewise, a delegation of youth leaders and students led by Finish Ambassador to Nepal Asko Luukkainen called on Chairman Regmi. Matters relating to gender equality and the representation of youth and women in elections were discussed, added Thapa.
These meetings took place at a time when the Interim Election Government led by Regmi is in trouble due to recommendation of former Chief Secretary Lok Man Singh Karki as the chief of CIAA.
