KATHMANDU: Although the government is finding hard time to convince political parties regarding the provisions of the electoral bill and also to convince other disgruntled parties to take part in the elections, Chairperson of the Interim Election Government Khil Raj Regmi however expedited the consultation with leaders of different political parties.
In this connection, chairperson of the Interim Election Government Regmi held separate discussions with UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal on the government’s preparations to formulate an election ordinance.
According to reports, Regmi informed the leaders that the government was doing its final preparations to declare election date. He also requested the leaders to support the government for holding the election in a free and fair manner.
The two leaders expressed full support to the government and made recommendations with regards to provisions in the proposed election ordinance.
Meanwhile, the government has claimed that it has made a significant achievement in the road extension drive in the Kathmandu Valley.
In a meeting of high level monitoring committee of the road expansion drive held on Sunday, Coordinator of the committee Secretary Krishna Hari Baskota claimed that some 200 km road in the valley has already been expanded. He further claimed 90 percent success on the ongoing works at the end of the current fiscal year.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has informed that a team will supervise the road expansion work in the Valley under the leadership of Coordinator Baskota on Monday
