KATHMANDU: At a time when 42 political parties have been opposing the announcement of the election of the constituent assembly, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has welcomed the government’s announcement of Constituent Assembly (CA) election date.
Issuing a press release on Saturday, chairperson of the party Surya Bahadur Thapa said that the CA election is linked to people and country’s future, so all people need to participate actively in the election and make it a success.
“Formation of the CA legislature parliament is essential to form a pro-people government which would make new constitution and free the country from crisis,” the press release stated.
However Thapa stressed the need to bring all dissident political parties to consensus so that environment for free and fair election would be ensured. The government on Thursday had announced Nov. 19 as the CA election date. The agitating political parties have been demanding to dissolve the incumbent government and formation of partisan government for holding the elections of the constituent assembly. The agitating parties have been warning that they would disrupt the electoral process unless their demands are fulfilled.
