Qatar Charity reaches poor with food aid
KATHMANDU: Qatar Charity, a Doha-based international charity organisation, has been providing livelihood support for poor and indigent families in several parts of the country. In the past one year, programs aim to assist such community in income generating activities incorporated hundreds of families.
According to organisation’s Nepal project manager Irsad Ali Sheikh, under the ‘Ramajan Food Packet Distribution’ program launched targeting the ongoing Ramajan, the major festival of Muslims, over 200 families including those headed by single women were provided with 25 kilos of rice, five kilos of flour, three kilos of sugar, five liters of oil and one kilo of salt each.
The organisation is founded on the principle that those with resources should support those who are deprived of them and it is a humanitarian responsibility as well. The organisation regularly comes up with food aid programs during festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Ramajan and Eid. Since two years, it has been working in the sectors of education, health, water supply and sanitation in Nepal.
