Prime Minister Oli’s cabinet expansion unconstitutional: Supreme Court


N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- The Supreme Court has quashed the cabinet expansion made by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli after the dissolution of the parliament.

A bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra and Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana on Tuesday issued an interim order revoking the cabinet expansion, according to a Supreme Court source. At the same time, 20 ministers of the current cabinet have resigned.

After the dissolution of the parliament on June 22, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli removed one deputy prime minister, nine ministers, and three ministers of state on June 7 and appointed 10 ministers and two ministers of state, including the deputy prime minister.

He made Rajendra Mahato of the Janata Samajwadi Party and Raghuvir Mahaseth of the UML the Deputy Prime Ministers and also promoted Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel. On 27 June, he completed the Council of Ministers by adding seven ministers and one Minister of State.
