The President held talks with the Minister for Finance Shanker Koirala, Science and Technology Minister Umakanta Jha, various government secretaries and the President’s advisers about the issue.
According to media reports Secretary at the Ministry of Forest Krishnachandra Paudel updated the participants about progress made in the President’s Chure Conservation project. The President urged all officials to do their bit to make the program successful, a statement issued by the President’s office said.
The President’s Chure Conservation Program was launched around four years ago in the wake of reports of indiscriminate extraction of pebbles and rocks from the rivers and clearing of forests in the area.
