KATHMANDU: As the date for elections of the constituent assembly is approaching, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav expedited his consultations with leaders of political parties to encourage them to find consensus with poll opposing parties soon for ensuring the elections of the constituent assembly at the stipulated time.
In this process, President Dr. Yadav held discussion with chairperson of UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal about ongoing political situation of the country and election of the constituent assembly at his office on Wednesday.
In the meeting, the Maoist chairperson informed the President about ongoing talks with the disgruntled parties, claiming that the talks have been positive and that a political understanding is likely to be reached very soon. Chairperson Dahal had expressed his confidence that the poll-opposing political parties would join the CA election scheduled to be held on November 19 as the other political parties have already joined the election campaign.
President Dr. Yadav urged Chairman Dahal to include all political parties in the election and hold the election in the slated calendar. He said that the major parties and the government should make maximum efforts to ensure participation of all the parties in the elections.
On Monday President Dr. Yadav held discussion with chairperson of the Interim Election Government and received information about ongoing political situation and also the preparations for holding the elections of the constituent assembly.
The meeting between the Maoist chairman and the President came ahead of crucial meetings of the high-level political committee with the 33-party alliance, which includes the CPN-Maoist, Ashok Rai’s Federal Socialist Party and Upendra Yadav-led eight-party alliance.
The president also held similar discussions with leaders of major political parties ahead of the dissolution of the constituent assembly and formation of the interim election government led by Chief Justice. President played constructive role for bringing major political parties on board for giving outlet to the country. This time the President is also holding consultation with leaders of poll opposing parties to ensure second elections of the constituent assembly on time.
