President Bhandari visit to Krishna Temple impeded due to COVID-19
KATHMANDU:- President Bidya Devi Bhandari was unable to reach Patan-based Krishna Mandir, the temple of Lord Krishna, and perform pooja today unlike the established tradition on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The tradition of the Temple has it that the Head of the State offers worship at the 17th-century Temple made up of stones, every year on the day that celebrates the birthday of Lord Krishna. Issuing a press statement today, spokesperson at the Office of the President at Shital Niwas, Hari Prasad Dahal, said that President Bhandari was unable to pay homage to Lord Krishna due to the risk of COVID-19 that has spread worldwide.
Meanwhile, the Temple was also closed for the public and devotees thronging the Temple today, relatively in lesser number than the previous one, in view of the safety protocols laid down by the government as well as the local administration to contain the spread of the flu-like infection in the community level, according to Mahesh Dhar Rajopadhyay, one of the priests in the Temple.
