RASUWA: Preparations for Gosainkunda fair have been over, said the organiser. Various subcommittees have been formed to manage the fair organised every year on the occasion of Janaipurnima, a Hindu festival.
The trekking route from Dhunche to Gosainkunda has been cleaned up, said chair of the Gosainkunda Area Development Committee, Sanjib DM. Hotel entrepreneurs along the route have been asked to manage food and lodging for more than 15,000 devotees expected to visit the fair this year, he said.
“Hotel fees have been set. Devotees are requested to pay only after viewing the price list,” he said. Security arrangements have been made, said Chief District Officer Arjun Bhandari. Likewise, a health camp will also be organised on the initiatives of Nepal Army and the district public health office. The fair will run for six days starting August 11. Taking a dip into Gosainkunda (a holy pond) is believed to remove sins. At an altitude of 14,100 feet from the sea level, the place is over eight hours drive from Kathmandu and hours walk from Dhunche by going through Dhunche bazaar, Chandanbari and Lauribinayak. Gosainkunda is a shrine particularly for the followers of Hinduism and Buddhism.
