Prachanda’s assaulter affiliated with Dash Maoist, claims UCPN (Maoist); Dash Maoist denies involvement

KATHMANDU:
The meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) senior leaders has condemned the attack upon its supremo Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ claiming that Padam Kunwar, attacker of the Maoist chairperson Prachanda, is affiliated with the CPN-Maoist.

The urgent meeting held at Prachanda’s residence Lazimpat also concluded that the attack against their leader Prachanda was a preplanned conspiracy against peace and the constitution.

We have concluded that the man responsible for the act and identified as Padam Kunwar, who is affiliated with CPN-Maoist’s Peoples’ Volunteer Bureau, may have been mobilized in a pre-planned manner, said UCPN (Maoist) Spokesperson Agni Sapkota to the media-persons after the meeting.

However, CPN-Maoist party has denied its involvement in the attack against Prachanda.
Talking to reporters following a meeting of the party at its headquarters in Buddhanagar today, Maoist party Secretary Netra Bikram Chand described the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and termed the expressions linking his party with the incident as ’emotional and prejudiced’.
He also condemned the statement from the UCPN (Maoist) side that a member of the Youth People’s Volunteer Bureau was involved in it.
